Moving Subjects

AF-C, Dynamic AF

Have you ever had trouble focusing when photographing athletes or other moving subjects? To photograph a moving subject, you'll need to get focus settings right. How the camera focuses in autofocus mode is determined by the combination of focus mode and AF-area mode. For focus mode, choose continuous-servo AF. The camera will adjust focus continuously in response to changes in the distance to the subject. AF-area mode controls how the camera chooses the focus area (focus areas are displayed in the viewfinder). If you choose 3D-tracking, the camera will choose the focus area based on subject motion. To capture a subject that this moving unpredictably, use dynamic-area AF.
